Hello fellow contesters.

I had a blast, with my new portable station, again in Devon but this time at an
Air B N B cottage which turned out to be brilliant but in a bit of a valley. I
told the owner what i had in mind and he offered me his field !! perfect and it
was. I don't think he was quite expecting phased 40m verticals with feed points
at 7ft and 16 qtr wave radials to each vertical ending on 6ft bamboo poles. It
really is one of my favourite antennas and it really works well. Saturday
morning was slow ! Not sure what happened but i was in bed by 03:30 due to lack
of activity my end ! back on for sunrise and worked most of the day around the
EU. Saturday night wasn't much better to be honest and i was back in bed early
with a 5am start on sunday morning. Worked all day on and off and it was only in
the last few hours that I managed a decent rate into the US which is where i was
certain i could make good points. I was called by Don, AA5AU, the god of rtty
for me and that made my evening, he had a big total so Don is still a force to
be reckoned with.

I managed one JA !! several VK, thanks to you all.

I would like to thank a new friend, Richard, M5RIC who i hope you worked as MD5C
on the IOM for all his help in building a better station. We have chatted
contesting every day for months and his advice has been brilliant. My bank
manager on the other hand would like me to never talk to him again.

I now have a new station.
Radio at the moment is still my trusty Icom 7300
A new to me Acom 1000 amp which performed flawlessly, my first time HP with my
own amp and a revelation, why i didn't do it earlier i will never know.
A new Stack Match and controller from QRO.cz Before I met Richard I didn't know
i needed one.
A new 7 ant RX switch from QRO.cz as well and now i ran beverages for the first
time, again thank you richard and Jan at QRO for all your help and advice.
We tested a switch box and controller for the phased verticals from GM6DX with
mixed results which meant we were unable to test two sets of phased verticals,
one on the ground and one elevated. I was really hoping to be able to run this
test but it will have to wait for another day.
A new power supply, the Alinco DM330MW2 which ran perfectly.
A new Daiwa CN901 power meter which was perfect.

Thanks to Nevada Communication in Portsmouth for sending endless packages of
coax and connectors and the power supply and Meter. To Jan at QRO for all your
help over several weeks and for managing to ship from the EU into the Uk with
the minimum of fuss, it can be done.

To everyone who worked me, I thank you, to those of you that like me, pack up a
car and drag your entire kit with back ups out to another location and build a
contest station for the sheer love of the hobby, I especially thank you for your
effort.

But finally, Richard M5RIC, you are a good man with a huge wealth of knowledge
and you are leagues ahead of me in the world of building a contest station and I
thank you for your time and patience.

Now what were talking about for SO2R for CQWW RTTY in September !!

You never know folks, this may be my last time portable, fingers crossed I will
have a property and a permanent station !! Better look out then !!

73's Robb De G1N (G0URR)
