Comments:

I operated more than originally intended due to the band conditions. It was
great to have all bands usable, like 10 meters for a change, and the rest were
just WIDE OPEN! For good rates, not the slow SP Qs, 20 opened around 1130, 15
opened around 1230 and, and my best 40 meter rates were before local sunset
starting around 2030. Almost like to “good old days”. I always like to try
to work 100 countries on 40, 20 and 15 but not to be this time and all my fault.
I shut down both Friday and Saturday around 0300 UTC and got back on the air
Saturday and Sunday morning around 1100 UTC. Even with the early shut down
times, 160 produced some good Qs and mults. My SO2R was only used for the
occasional Mult, but was helpful. Once again, sure miss the M2 days of the
past.

It was fun to be on 20 and 15 during the day. The pileups were huge and stations
just kept calling. In many cases that was both good and bad. Great to have
endless callers, but – not when I am trying to patch together a complete call.
It did not seem to matter what partial call I would send, most callers just kept
on calling! It sounded like I was operating from a rare DX location. I do not
think NC is rare. That type of calling is very unproductive to any rate and, in
most cases, counterproductive to make the callers quick Q. It would take 3 or 4
passes to get the correct call put together, instead of perhaps just 2.

Unfortunately, I did leave several mults on the table. My antenna farm has been
greatly reduced and probably caused the inability to hear but not be heard by
many mainland Asia stations. JA, VK and ZL was easy but not HL, YB or BY. Even
VU was able to be worked on 15 and 20, but not the other locations.

The casual operation also allowed time to be spent watching the college
basketball, some Olympics, having dinner with my wife, sleeping, and just
enjoying both the on and off times. Thanks for the fun times, all the Qs and
patience in the pileups.

73, Bruce N1LN
