Ran assisted but I could not hear most of the spots that were on the N1MM
band-map. And I was using only the spotting stations from Virginia and the
surrounding 3 states! I have concluded that the spots are mostly useful for
quickly finding a clear frequency for running.
Started out on 10 and 15M but propagation was long on both bands. And I could
not get a run going on either one of them! So most of my contacts on those two
bands were by S&Ping. It was slow going and I ended up taking a 45-minute
nap at around 3:00PM EST.
Things did pick up later on and I finally had some decent runs on 40 and 80M.
And my best one-hour rate was 102 contacts. But most of them with the stations
in the northeast were made by pointing my beams to the northWEST!
M1MM ran pretty much flawlessly except for one time when it inexplicably
switched from RUN to S&P! It took me a while to figure out what had
happened and I am embarrassed to say that I was attempting to respond to my good
friend AD1C when it happened! I do apologize, Jim!
As usual I worked a lot of the PVRC members and four local Yardhog hams too.
And I did have fun and that is what it is all about!
