Wow! Who would have expected such good conditions on 40. My inverted vee was
never competitive, but I got good signal strengths from telnet before the
session and a couple guys stopped by to comment that I was loud. Off to a good
start with 53 QSOs at 0315z. At 0330 had 99 QSOs and still on 40! Coverage was
over the entire USA, including some Illinois. Boy I wish more locals were on.
Went to 80 at 0339Z because there were pauses after QSOs and I had to call CQ a
few times. Perhaps reached the saturation point. At 0345 had 139, so was
slipping a bit. 80 was good with the inverted vee and there were some I only
copied on the vertical array. I will have to combine these two to save a bit of
time with repeats. Ended up with 188. My best had been 191.
