Comments:

The 3 CMEs which apparently missed the earth with no storms shown caused more
deteriorated condx than expected. The high bands were so-so and then terrible.
The low bands suffered as well. Still no 10 m contacts. We missed 32, 47 and JD
on all bands. No band had more than 44 prefectures. This is a fun contest and
could use more action from the rarer prefectures. Thanks to all the JA friends
we worked.

160: N6RO
Conditions were much worse than last year. In the last few minutes of the
contest, worked 2 new mults. Quad had better S/N than 4SQ, as usual, but had
high SWR.

80: 1st nite WX5S and 2nd nite N6RO
Conditions were poor and then got worse. The first night on 80m, the band
sounded dead. Could only hear NX6T CQing and one US rag chewer. Never heard a JA
CQ but I was able to get some answers to my CQ's. I tried numerous times to pass
loud JA's on 80m to 160m but there just was no prop. Best sig level I saw in JA
for our 160m signal was 6 dB. That is not loud enough. .On second night, A and K
levels went through the roof, something like K=9, A=24. On the 2nd nite, 80m was
slow until 12z, got 29 in that hour on 80.

40: 1st nite WA6O and 2nd nite WX5S
Right from the start 40 was good. The rate picked up until about 1030z then
dropped down but remained OK until 1430.
WX5S: On 40m, I could only hear maybe 20% of the JA's that were spotted. Very
abnormal from W6 with big antennas! Prop did improve somewhat towards the end
of the opening, but still very rough sledding. The suggestion of asking for JCC
if the wrong # was sent was helpful. One really weak guy kept spelling out the
name of his town in text instead of giving me the number. Copy was so bad that I
was never able to figure out what he was sending.. I am surprised that we came
as close to last year's score as we did. N6RO was an iron butt on 160m. I
cheered (only heard by my cat) when he made 2 new band mults in the last hour.

20: K3EST until 9pm Sat then K6AW
As the contest started, JAs were OK on 20 at midnight in CA. The JAs continued
until about 0830z. Between 1200 and 1500 Saturday morning JAs were loud…80 and
40 were still working stations so 20 was just SWL until they closed down.
Saturday afternoon to 0400z conditions were terrible. Signals were weak and QSB
was heavy at times. Several callers were too weak under these condx to get good
copy. Saturday night condx deteriorated and few JAs made it into the log. The
signals were, in most cases, very marginal.

15: N6WM and late Sat evening N6RO
It was difficult this year. With some exceptions, most signals bounced just
slightly above our local noise floor making copy difficult a lot of the time.
And impossible some of the time. There was rapid QSB complicating already weak
copy. Basically, most of the QSOs on 15 were worked over a several hour window.
Despite poor condx there were some periods of very satisfying rate.

10: N6RO: Nada Attempted pass of JE1CKA from 20m.Not a trace direct or bent path
