Comments:
This was the coldest OQP I have done, exceeding the contest a decade ago that
had lots of snow drifts and active snowing. Saturday there were no snow drifts,
but a bitter wind with temp. dropping from 4C to -2C Saturday evening. Easter
Sunday was sunny and the wind was down, although the bands were much quieter
than usual early.
The wind made CW keying a chore with cold hands. Gusts added wind noise to the
head phones and would randomly trigger the radio VOX making contacts on SSB very
difficult at times. Times at locations were cut short due to cold although no
rain or snow in spite of the forecast.
Counties activated BFD,BRA,HAM,HAL,WEL,HTN,DUF,PEL,YRK,SIM,TOR.
Equipment: Elecraft K3, DXCC inverted Vee at 7.5M, paper logging digitized using
OQP Logger (Tnx Kevin) that handles ROVER well.
It was lots of fun but more of an adventure this year. Hope for warmer weather
next year.
Tnx to all for QSOs and patience.
Bob VE3WG/R
