Comments:
I sat out last year's IARU, and this year decided to put in more time and try
harder than I have for several years. The plan worked out -- ended up with a
personal second-best, only bettered by 2014. Had much better mult performance
than the previous seven years. 17 hours is five more than my usual 12 in this
one.
Happy with the raw result, but still disappointed in 20M -- at no time did I
feel the EU polar path was working particularly well. Was great to see 15M and
20M open a bit after midnight local time (0700z), and the JAs were well
represented on that late-night opening here.
Not sure what to think of 80M. Either the wire vertical is really bad, or there
just weren't a lot of stations to work on Saturday night. Basically fled from
80M to more productive 20 and 15 bands, then spent my last two hours on 40M
working what I could before packing it in at 4 a.m. local with an hour left in
the contest.
