Comments:
Murphy just would not leave me alone! 30 mins before start, everything works
perfectly so I grab a bite to eat. Sit down to find a freq 5 mins before start
and discover I suddenly can't key the transmitter. Eventually found the RS232
plug was unplugged on the back of my K3. (My bad. I should have screwed it
on.) Of course, I didn't look behind the rig until 20 mins after start. How
did it happen? Pretty sure I know. I have a 1-year-old cat that likes to
investigate behind the rig. Apparently, he saw an opportunity while I was out
of the room.
Murphy had yet another laugh with nasty powerline noise making a wreck of 20
meters much of the time. I eventually figured out my little 6 ft 80/40 receive
loop could hear better thru the noise than the main antenna. 80 wasn't much use
due to heavy QRN - as usual. Disappointed I didn't get better traction on 40.
It was a struggle. Only had a couple of RUNs over an hour. It seems 100 watts
into an HF9V vertical just isn't all that commanding a signal. HI.
Still... Always fun. Thanks for the Qs!
