Checklog--I wanted to check out the beverage antenna I put up a week or so
ago--440' long to the NE. The TX arrays at N3IQ have proven to better than the
K9AY loops we had years ago and took down, but I wanted to try again...I checked
on 80M, and it's hard to tell any difference, but on 160M there seems to be
slightly better SNR to the NE--especially on W1s. So after I tested, SP was in
full flow, and I called CQ--and noticed that packet was "on" in N1MM.
Sorry! I usually use Writelog for CW contesting and avoid the packet
distraction. Anyway, I had fun and the station played well as usual. I was
called by a few 12-16pt EUs, found a couple of Caribbean stations, and after
local sunrise, was called by a couple of VKs--but I only completed with 1 (sorry
VK2EKM??) through the static crashes. Ran 900-1000w from Yaesu Quadra amp, K3
radio, with multi-element vertical arrays for NE, SE, W and all the
combinations.
