Comments:
It was CQWW DX CW to remember. They warned about expected snowfall, but we did
not expect it will be so heavy.
Contest started very well for us and we were leading 1.3M to YT5A guys in
Balkan's battle this time. All was good until a snow storm with heavy snowing
and heavy wind started. Then Murphy came to house. Three or four short power
cuts first and then electricity gone for one hour - means total of 1 hour 20 min
no operation time and we lost around 400-450 QSOs. Wind was so strong we thought
antennas will not survive, but at the end nothing crushed, so after electricity
came back we continued. Noise on top band was extremely high and reception was
affected on all bands,too.
In spite of difficult weather condx we tried to give our best and final claimed
score looks like a decent one. Just 144 QSOs less than guys at YT5A.
We could have crossed 13 000 QSO total, if it was no power cut.
Comparison shows we made a score almost identical as QSOs vs 2022 with 1 hour 20
min less operation time, but multiplier total in 2023 is higher. App 800 QSOs
from 160, 80 and 40m now moved to 10m band 2022 vs 2023.
Contest season is over now. Guys will do some ARRL 10m contest activity for
fun.
See ya in WPX SSB 2024.
Thank you ALL for QSOs in 2023.
