maybe (probably) so.  if not, as you point out, the filament 
transformers will have to be changed.

but... if the 3-500z's are being run a bit too hard, (although i 
doubt this has *ever* happened!) then the extra 100w of dissipation 
capability will make the amps run a bit cooler... if the heat can be 
spirited away properly.  

it's kind of like running tetrodes with handles at 1500w out.  they 
stay cool and last a long time.  (their filaments will allow more 
output than 1.5kw, of course.)  i personally *like* things that run 
cool. i've found that they save money in the long run.

i've got a 4x150a amp (class c) that has given about 400 w out for 
about 25 years!  (not key down for 25 years!  but when i ask it to,
it delivers.) it dissipates about 50w.  these figures are from 
memory, so i'm not absolutely certain.  but it "keeps on tickin'"
