I have spoken to RF parts and they claim a 3CX800A7 from Svetlana for $315.00.
However the characteristics of the tube I am speaking of are found below:
It really compares more with a 3CX1200. The gentleman I got this information 
from
has told me that these tubes are available all over Europe for around $60.00US 
a bottle.
More are available in the old Eastern Block countries, but they are plentiful 
at ham fests 
in the EU.

THE INFO:

GS31b is a Russian Power triode available on various radio markets 
all over Europe for an acceptable price. Compared with an 3CX800A7 
this tube is rather cheap and performs quite well. Typical max of 
the grounded-grid PA 1.5 kW 1.6-30 MHz, 1.3 kW 50 MHz and 1.1 kW 144
MHz The best is 2.5KV Plate Voltage/750 mA Plate current in 144 MHz!
(The Grid of Tube directly on the chassis, circuit equivalent with 
"A 2-kW PEP Amplifier for 144 MHz" Chapter 31-51 of The 1988 ARRL 
HANDBOOK, but the cathode with a transistorized zener circuit - 
(no regular zener) Power gain of a 144MHz Grounded grid Amplifier 
will be around 12dB
