A question for the experts....I have an Icom 765 that has an
internal tuner and a fairly old AL 80A (1 x 3-500z) and have
wondered if one should have the rigs tuner active when
using the amp. My antenna's are: CC A3S that pretty much covers
10, 15 & 20 meter bands with =< 3:1 SWR. The 40 m antenna is an
inverted V that has around 200 kHz with less that 3:1. The 80
meter antenna only has about 75 kHz 3:1 bandwidth.
I seldom push the amp much over 400 to 500 watts and actually
use it pretty sparingly because of the dreaded tvi monster.
I have not been using the internal tuner because I figured I was
just tuning the 80A's tuned input. So, which is the correct way
to operate? With or without the rigs internal tuner?

Thanks,
