Depends on the feedline Steve. With sufficient loss the antenna will be
virtually invisible. In any case it appears from experience that it does
not take much to dampen the arc and the distributed C to ground in the
coax may help. 

The value does not appear to be very critical, in the NCL-2000 they used
a 10pf 1KV silver mica. Iv'e used everything from silver mica, 3KV disc
ceramic, and 5KV doorknobs depending on the amp. Capacity ranges of
10-15pf seem sufficient.
