Thanks for the info on why not to use ferrites for plate chokes.
I've found an inexpensive source($.65 each) of FB43-1020's(1 1/8" x 1"
x 1/2") that I've been playing around with as baluns. It's just that
I've never heard about ferrites mentioned and thought it might be a
good question to put out here.
Later this winter I'm going to try an experiment with my old-old
Dentron and wind a couple in the plate lead. I'll keep you posted.
