To Bill and others interested in the formula for A.C. rated caps:
2 X sq.root of 2 X A.C. rating = D.C. rating.
That is easier for me to remember that way, rather than 2.828 X A.C. rating.
IOW, a capacitor rated at 1500 volts A.C. would be safe to use in a circuit
up to 4200 volts D.C.
I have never seen this written down anywhere. It just gets passed on by word
of mouth and the internet!
