I owned and used a BTI 2000HD for about 5 years. I loved it. It had
better efficiency than most linears I have used. The layout is not
crowded. The pi-L output and tuned input contribute to the efficiency.
Mine was the HD model which, I believe, used a hypersil core HV xfmr.
The 3-1000z tube does not require a large volume of cooling air so the
blower noise is low. I put in a step start circuit to soften the start
up surge. Mine would put out only about 1200w. An important feature to
me was the instant warmup. I never turned it on until I heard a station
I wanted to work. The parts are high quality in my opinion. The hv
filter is a string of Mallory heavy duty computor grade caps. The tuned
input uses slug tuned coils accessible through holes in the front of the
chassis. In my opinion it is one of the best designed linears I have
