Hi Pete,

I've heard a few different reasons and stories.  I know about the
parasitic 
reason as Rich mentions. The larger load cap SB-220 was built in 1970 
and the smaller spaced cap came from a later >1970 built kit.  This 
would not jive with the information as I now understand it.  The larger
tune 
cap amp also has some differences in the chassis holes provided to 
route the rf. There is a special larger hole under the cap to route the
rf 
out to the relay via a ~1/2" strap.  The smaller load cap amp takes the
rf 
out through the band switch hole.

:Loading cap?  I heard they changed the tuning cap in the latter part of
the
:production run to one with wider spacing, but had heard nil about the
load
