Rich said: "Norm's circuit was grid driven. " Rich, I am looking at Norm's circuit on page 157 of the New Sideband Handbook published by Don Stoner. On the left of the schematic, there is a notation that says "rf input". A connection is shown from that point to the grid of a 6L6 "gate" tube. The connection also goes to the filaments of two RK-65 amplifier tubes. I do not call that grid driven. The wire inside the tube that gets hot and emits electrons is not the grid. Perhaps I should have called Norm's circuit "filament" drive. Norm makes a special point of noting that the 2 ufd capacitor on the screen must be oil filled. Would that be olive or canola oil?
