Hi Ken, the thing with AM is that the peak power is four times the carrier
power. You should have a good peak reading watt meter to adjust the excitor
and the amp to run properly on AM. I use the 2 watts per pound of amplifier
rule, if the amp weighs 50 pounds run 100 watts carrier. I run a home brew
amp that weighs 200 pounds and things get pretty toasty at 400 watts output.
