Bill the answer to that is both yes and no.

Both tubes have a maximum plate dissipation of 1500 watts

Both tubes operate at the same plate voltage 2500 to 3500 volts

The 8877 filament requirements are 5.0 volts at 10 amps
The GS-35 filament requirements are 12.6 volts at 3 amps.

The 8877 is a "hotter" tube with a higher amplification factor. The
8877 can be driven to 1 amp with 65 watts while the GS-35B will require
100 watts to obtain 1 amp.

The 8877 needs about 50 CFM of airflow to keep it cool. The GS-35B will
require twice that resulting in alot more noise.

The 8877 is rated to 250 Mhz while the GS-35B is rated clear to 1 Ghz

The GS-35B has half the output capacitance as the 8877 making it easier to
design and obtain components for a multiband tank circuit.

The price of an 8877 is $675
The price of a GS-35B is $90 to $150 depending on who you buy it from.

That's the basics
