[Amps] Input Impedance Question?

I expect to see with a pair of Russian GI7B's in GG?  I expect
I would tune the input anyway.  Also, I saw a bias circuit using
a transistor and some zeners in the base circuit. Is this so you can
use lower wattage zeners ?
