As Colin says, the whole problem is attack time of the ALC. Doesn't anyone make
a radio with proper attack time? It can't be that hard to do. It is simply like
the AVC system in the receiver. On any modern receiver there is no delay in AVC
attack. You don't hear any clicks or pops from the AVC.

The reason some radios probably have less splatter with the processor on is
that the processor is faster at attacking the peaks. It immediately clips them.
Provided of course everything is not cranked up too far.
