I purchased an NOS 5cx1500a last year which makes
this sound. I believe the original seller who told me it
is/was new. Other than Econco (which is actually
near to me) and an amplifier with mucho short
protection, I will probably never test or use this tube.
-
I could not bring myself to place it in a customers
main/only (no standby) broadcast transmitter.
-
One should strive to "not become famous."
Especially when people are asking you "how long
before we are back on the air."
-
cheers

One thing that I have been observing is that certain tubes
makes a discrete 'dika-dika' sound when shaken vertically
(tube vertically held).
-
Not the kind of sound that happens when large structures of
filiament has fallen down....Or loose matter rattling around.
Just something discrete.....soft..
-
3 out of four 5CX1500A's (so called 'good pulls') gives off a sound
when shaken vertically, nothing horizontally...
