are 'approximations'. It is impossible to be exact even with measurements,
everything is traceable to a standard.
I don't recall ever implying that people who have spent their lifetimes
making precise calculations and those who have furthered the technical
understanding of our wonderful hobby or profession had wasted their time. On
the contrary I am in awe of such people and envious of what they have
achieved and indeed hope one day to do something as useful myself.
As for arrogance we have a saying in the UK about kettles and pans calling
each other black ass!
I also only have the one armchair.
Back to building amplifiers for me, that is EXACTLY what I intend to do.

Yes, I think you are being a simpleton (on this issue). You have no right
to sit back there in your armchairs and hurl out criticisms of the many

I have had the pleasurable experience of working in one such group, a
group which did some of the pioneering work on CAE in electronics.
Fortunately for the world, this work done by numerical analysis experts and
programmers has led to computer tools which have been directly responsible
for great progress in all branches of science and engineering.
For you to imply that these people have all wasted their time is arrogant,
ignorant, and very unprofessional if you are a scientist yourself.

This is a classic example of sophistry. GlutusMaximus desires to enhance
his image in his own mind by writing a long treatise giving the appearance of
intellectual superiority. When discussion occurs concerning some of the
statements contained in the article, Glutus responds by saying "you don't
understand what that word means".........the point here is not that you don't
know what I mean when I say that word, but because I am of superior
intellingence, take my correction and admonition....and then thank me for
doing so.
