I've been told that turbine oil (the oil used for jet engines) works 
well.  It lacks most of the additives used in oil for reciprocating engines 
which will degrade the resistor(s). I've also heard that mineral oil from 
the drugstore will work, but not as well.  I went to the local depot of the 
electric company and asked if they'd sell me some transformer oil.  When 
they heard I only needed a gallon, they gave it to me.
