I would kindly like your help to clarify a few points about this AMP as I'm
considering buying a used one:
1. What power output can be expected at 10-20 W input level? What's the mean
gain ?
2. What should be the reading of plate voltage & current at the 100w input
level?
3. What is the idle state plate high-voltage of a good unit? The one I'm
looking at has 1.6Kv / 2Kv (depending on mode cw/ssb switch).
4. Is plate voltage supposed to drop when the amplifier is driven (at any
input level)? this one has a 5%-10 % plate voltage
drop at 40w-75w drive level - is this normal?
5. Can 10m and/or 6m bands be added or does any such addition remove
another band?
6. Finally, what's a decent price for a 1985 unit in 90% physical condition,
no mods, 240v ready,
operation within 20% of specifications, no estimate of operating hours?
