Hi
Thanks for the replies to my request for help.  I found the problem - it was
an open  1.5 ohm resistor that was used to meter the grid current.  The grid
current I saw on the meter was not actually grid current.  Also this caused
the tubes to be biased off hence no output.  With the resistor replaced the
amp is working fine.
