There is a guy claiming 3 kw output out of a homebrew amp running a single
3-1000z on qrz.com. Is this believable?

 The efficiency is c. 62%, so it would take c. 4800w in to see 3k out. The emission limit is c. 800mA avg. Thus, one would need an anode supply of 6000v to see 4800w in. According to builders, the 3-1000Z gets pretty squirrelly above 4500v. 0.2pF of feedback C is double that of an 8877, so maybe that accounts for the arboreal rodents.

cheers, Marty
