Out here in North Jersey one of the two big used-tube guys was telling me that
he has a steady stream of CB'ers showing up at his website looking for hi-mu
tetrodes from broadcast applications just to fit them into amplifiers going in
their vehicles.
Tom was amazed that some of them hadn't fried their brains with the 15-20KW
rigs with small antennae right above the thin sheet metal roofs of their
vehicles.
But this all goes along with what the good "doctor" was talking about several
months ago when bandying about the conversion of a microwave oven into a rig
and the Popular Science article from around 1970 came up where they used a
slotted aluminum plate instead of a door and pretty soon it was discovered that
it made a pretty good particle beam weapon......
The best thing is that everything is cyclic, even CB mega-amps.
Even this will fade with time.
