A couple ways:
The 3-400Z is about 1/2" shorter than a 3-500Z. It may also be a bit
fatter... or just look that way because it is shorter.
Unmodified, the 3-400Z comes with an integral 4 fin plate cooler, the
3-500Z doesn't.
The plate fins are longer in a 3-500Z.
Easy to see the differences if you have them side by side.

The 3-400Z has a somewhat higher mu than the 500, so it is not a good
match.
