Hi Jason,

the power-supply is the weakest part of the L4/L4-B followed by the
bandswitch.
With the original power supply you are limited in power, with an
external power supply
you are limited by the bandswitch.
IMHO there is no benefit to use more expensive tubes in those linears,
the gain ofthe 3-400Z is better, so you can use the transmitter with
reduced power for better linearity
