I'm just kind of curious whether it may be a socket for a 3A200. These were
pretty much used in the old FAA A-and-N transmitters. The unusual thing was
they had a 3-pin base and 2 grid connections on the envelope. A old friend
of mine, now an SK, had a large supply of these and we were contemplating
using them in an AM transmitter.

p.s. taking that down-the-socket shot was kind of tricky.
I ended up getting a good exposure with my cheep-o
digital camera by covering the flash with a couple layers
of kleenex, setting the camera to macro, and shooting
blind a few times. It's sure a lot easier to experiment
with a digital camera, just throw the duds away!
