To Scott, N9AA on his question about his Amp Supply LK-500ZC. Keep what you
have Scott. You have the best bang for the buck now. The AL-1200 has a
tendency to oscillate at ten meters. That is why they put that little GIZMO
circuit
at the base of the tube !! Eimac found out too and replaced that tube with
the 3CX1200D7 and then even better , the 3CX1200Z7. Many have lost that so
called indestructible tube because of those problems. You don't hear about
them
but the service folks do !! The AL-1500 is a great amp but the difference in
drive power needed and the power out is insignificant. Both those other amps
tubes cost over $700, new. I would keep the the 3-500's and perhaps buy a new
pair from Tom's Tubes if I thought mine were weak ! Good luck, keep what you
got !! Willy K3VW
