This isn't exactly what you asked, but something to consider: LDG 
makes an autotuning input board which will do the job automatically. 
Current price is $125 and with it, you no longer need a second wafer. 
It senses the incoming RF and autotunes in a fraction of a second. It 
also has 4000 memories for frequencies previously used. IMO, the only 
way to go.
