I am also curious about Barrie's arcing problem and will be watching this
thread with great interest. I have a 32uF @ 4500V GE oild filled cap that also
arcs from the case to chassis ground. It actually got worse when I grounded it
and I dont understand why. It took a few minutes to arc, but when it did it
really let loose and made me jump!! Needless to say it is no longer grounded
but
it still intermittently arcs- just not as bad as when grounded.
