Eddy,

There was a big scam uncovered and it was in the Washington Post about the
auctions. Minorites could get first dibs on this and could buy the blocks at a
way better price than a large coporation. However, they were supposed to do
something with them by a certain set date. Well, it turns out that some were
buying up these large chunks, starting a small company to make things look
good, then turning around and re-selling them to the large coporations. Talk
about the millions made in a short time! If I recall, there was a professional
ball player caught up in this too. Anyhow, there was a big thing about it at
the time, and suddenly it seemed like it was hushed. One can search the
Washington Post or the NY Times websites and find it. There's more to it than
that, it's just that's all that I can remember about it now.

Back in the 70's and 80's was when the big crack downs were. In around 89-90
the whole illegal industry using tubes was stopped when Eddie Richardson and
company bought out the GE tube plant. That shut the receiving tube line
completely down and made the company into a microwave only business, now MPD.
Talk about the price of receiving tubes going up over night! Also, what a huge
profit was made over this by the one who had the most NOS tubes warehoused.
Sound fishy to you, it sure did to me too?

Best,

Will
