Paul, you have to have a line transformer for isolation - it is life and death
- no discussion possible...
Secondly, (as an old Plant Engineer) have you priced the Square D
transformer... You are likely in for a surprise... Industrial equipment is not
value priced, it is priced to meet industrial specs and immediate availability
- as machine downtime costs big dollars..
I would think that Peter Dahl, or others, will be more likely to wind you a
transformer to meet your needs than industrial stuff that isn't quite right for
the kind of surge currents you will see...
