Yes, it would need to handle that power. BUT:
Do a little research/study on the topic of "boost/buck" transformers. A
boost/buck transformer is a small transformer with a step-down ratio
whose secondary can be added either in-polarity or out of polarity with
the main transformer to add or subtract from voltage supplied by the main
transformer to get the needed voltage. The rating of the smaller
transformer need be only large enough to supply the ADDED (or subtracted)
power, and the windings must be rated for the needed current. There may
be a way you can use the transformers you have (or add a less expensive
one) to solve your problem.
Some UPS units include boost/buck transformers that are automatically
switched in and out of the circuit to extend the range of supply voltages
they can work with.
