Quite a few off-list comments were received, so rather than reply to
each individual, I'll just say thanks to all who responded and summarize.
The consensus on filament voltage was that 4.8 was OK but it would be
better to have some adjustment available. Most were concerned about the
drop across the pin/socket interface.
Surprisingly, no one seems to have measured the peak current at the two
step-start points that are commonly used, (at least with 3-500Z's) so no
real help there.
