What are you trying to do as it relates to amplifiers?

Lets start with something simple instead of trying to cover A-Z in one 
breath.

Powdered iron 2 Mix Micrometal red cores have been used for decades in 
amplifier tank circuits for starters.

Fairite Corp 43 Mix ferrite is generally used for broadband circuits 
such as sleeve baluns and RFI suppression. Ferrites generally dont 
behave very well when run at high power, especially when a high VSWR is 
present.
