Yes, I forgot to say 'happy Independence Day', Kevin. I'll bet you're glad
that your ancestors secured independence from the lousy British government
After 12 years of Blair and Brown and possibly our worst government in history
I wish we could too :-)
Good luck with the amp. Maybe Hsu who posts messages on this forum could
source you a far-east manufactured 3-1000z. I did see a few on the fleamarket
at Friedrichshafen last weekend. If only I'd known you were looking for some!
Cheers

Subject: [Amps] 4-1000A in LK2000
Thanks to all the responses to my query!
I guess it reminds me of the Wendy's hamburger ad running right now:
"Is that Fresh?" The response given is "Define Fresh!"
Yes a 4-1000A will 'Work' in the BTI LK2000A, but how well? POORLY!
'All' it would require is a change to the tuned inputs (for a solid
state exciter, anyway), doubling the input power if possible, and for it
to be worthwhile, one should also change the P/S transformer and beef up
the filter capacitors to increase the HV to at least 5K.
Never Mind!
I will not butcher this classic, so I will use this amp outside of
contests, and keep my eyes peeled for a backup 3-1000z!
BTW, I will be scanning the manuals and schematics for this amp, the HD
power supply, and the DL2000 dummy load for upload to the BAMA archive.
The one currently there is in the .djvu format, and not the best scan.
This will be in a .PDF format, and should be very clear by comparison.
Thanks to all, Happy Independence Day!
