Is this possibly the way (Wilkinson combiner/splitter) that Ameritron gets
1200w out of their new (ALS-100) SS amp?

It will work with 1/4 coax transformers, but I would always prefer wide band
2:1 ferrite transformers (as used in stack matches)plus a variable phase
  shifter in one channel.
I did that in the past with a pair of IC-2KLs all band.

Not saying anybody WOULD,,,,,,,,,,, but if you COULD.....
parallel a pair of SB-220s on a single band ?
Wilkinson Power deviders / combiners for zero phase combining?
A 90 degree network on the input and opposite 90 degree on output ?
  Run them in push-pull ( 180 degrees )

Assuming all splitters/ combiners would be made from coax.

Or, just use short runs of equal length coax and a coax tee for the inputs
  and accept a 2:1 drive mismatch ?

  Hummmmmmm
