There are also the early tubes that had much higher gain and Eimac did a 
redesign. I have a 79 code that was removed from an Alpha 77 that would 
smack a 2500W slug with around 50W drive. Owners were driving them at 100W + 
and wiping out the grid.

One person blamed it on parasitics (;-
