I recently misstated how the TenTec Speech Processor works, sorry. Here it is
more correctly. The device, their model 715, listing at 249 dollars, is
connected between one's mike and transceiver. It functions by mixing the audio
up to its own internal IF of 455KHz, filtering out the unwanted sideband,
clipping it (level is adjustable), filtering it again to remove harmonics and
mixing it back down to audio, which then goes into the transceiver's mike
input. I have one and like it, getting nice reports of audio quality from
folks who are familiar with my voice face to face. TenTec offers connecting
cables for Yaesu, ICOM, Kenwood/Elecraft.
