The block is fine as long as you do not sand it, or create dust from it.
IF you have the machine tools to create a new cooler to fit the BeO
block the conversion can be done neatly. All I've seen were converted
to use forced air and looked like...well...not very neat.

The 3CX400A7s are still made although hard to find and expensive. They
can be replaced with a pair of 3CX800s although a filament transformer
will be needed. OTOH the 8873 in the SB230 is NO LONGER MADE and has
not been in production for many years. The tube is *RARE*! and very
expensive if you do find one, but most used 8873s are questionable,
although the occasional good one does show up.

They are a nice, quiet amp, if you can ever find a tube for one.
