Jim,
All good. Yes, i did get a call from Howard at elecraft.
I had to get someone to direct connect a serial cable
and run the Elecraft utility over teamviewer and was able to talk to the amp and
 load the new firmware.

Folks,
The KPA500 is in a remote setup and i tried to upgrade from 1.23 to 1.33 over the remote setup.
The connection dropped and the amp did not recover.
The On/Off front panel does not respond. Power cycling the amp has not made it go back to the
 older version either.
The front panel display says "MCU Load".

I am going to call Elecraft tomorrow, but thought i will drop a note to check if anyone has the magic
 procedure to recover.

You should be asking this question on the Elecraft reflector, which several Elecraft engineers (including owner-engineers N6KR and WA6HHQ) read every day. It's rare to have to wait more than half a day for a useful response, and I've seen N6KR respond in a few hours to a DXpedition with a problem.
