The earliest serial number I have for the FT-920 is production lot # 02
manufactured in April of 1997
The Quadra is listed as an accessory in the FT-920 manual with a copyright
of 1997

Most likely in 1997. The Quadra is not mentioned in the FT-1000MP
manual (printing date 1995) but is shown in the FT-1000MP MK V manual
(2001).
Based on the serial numbers (7N04xxx and 8H09xxx), my Quadras were
produced in December 1997 and June 1998. Based on the difference (five
production runs in six months) the first production would have been
approximately mid 1997 - perhaps earlier if the initial adoption was
slow, or later if the initial sales were brisk.
