Very simple! Avoid mfj products.
Unfortunately, mfj has a very bad track record where quality control is
concerned. Bad soldering is probably the worst thing followed by things like
missing hardware, loose hardware, missing parts, extra hardware "rattling"
around the cabinet (probably that which was missing from the last item down the
production line), over-rating devices (i.e. saying that the item can handle
more power than it can, etc.), and so forth. These problems have been well
known for a long time and yet mfj has not instigated a satisfactory quality
control process.
If one considers new mfj products as a "semi-kit", that is, "some assembly
required", and if one is willing to correct the assembly problems and recognize
the over-rating of certain items, then, generally, the mfj products do work.

I know this isn't really an amp question, but I checked my email
for mfj-4245mv and found this one. Last week, the current just took off.
Fried a couple radios whose fuses didn't work. Also my surge protector
didn't stop it from frying my radios. Any idea what caused this or how to
fix it?
