Great idea, Bill. You could then use the external supply with several different 
amps. The power supply is a significant part of the total cost of a tube amp.

Unless you have money to burn, I would suggest building  an external
HV supply with a generic transformer for a fraction of the cost  

Spend the difference on bigger antennas.
